One of SynCure's fundamental purposes is to support those research projects that are most likely to lead to new cancer therapies. Our goal is to get more effective cancer treatments into hospitals and clinics as rapidly as possible.
The Need: Although cancer research already receives hundreds of millions of dollars annually from government, non-profit foundations, and private companies, many good ideas and promising leads are not pursued because of the lack of research dollars! There is a particular need for increased funding that focuses on the expensive and time-consuming process of “translating” laboratory discoveries into approved treatments. In addition, there is a national need to attract America’s best and brightest young people into cancer research careers.
Opportunities for Progress: The need for increased funding has never been greater because we are at the threshold of major advances in the war on cancer. The opportunities for breakthroughs in new cancer treatments are due to 30+ years of basic research in genomics, molecular biology, and synthetic organic chemistry. For example, see Small Molecule Cancer Drug Development
SynCure grants may support researchers from U.S.-based, accredited, nonprofit research institutions. Grants may cover for the entire continuum of research related to new treatments to cure or control cancer.
